We found this client to be worth sharing since he solved a problem which could spark some ideas for you!  In this case, Rockland County needed to stop the fraud coming from students copying bus passes for friends and they turned to lenticular flip printing.

I work at the Rockland County Dept. of Public Transportation.  We host several local campuses, including some attached to major universities.  For the local schools, students can buy semester bus passes at a discount.  But our challenge became coping with forged semester passes that had previously consisted of a printed “decal” adhered to the college ID card. It became easy to reproduce it fraudulently with modern copying technology.

Lenticular cards provided a counterfeit-resistant media.  Even without scanning bar codes, the lenticular lamination prevents scanning and copying. No additional resources were required. We simply substituted the lenticular card for the decal. It was seamless, and successful.  The process for acquiring a semester pass remained unchanged. We just updated to the new media and informed bus drivers to expect them.

Our positive experience has established a counterfeit-resistant system.  Additionally, the unique appearance of our custom-designed cards aided bus drivers in quickly confirming the validity, which resulted in faster boarding of passengers.  The more secure bus passes didn’t just prevent theft or fraud, it sped up the entire process.  Buses reached their destination in a timely fashion, even arriving at their final destinations early after they’d hit the last stops on their routes.

Rockland’s bus company printed their bus passes using the simple step-by-step process on SnapilyPro to create the animated effect that’s proven too difficult for any simple forgery.  Despite not using scanners or coming with any sort of bar code, the passes have been pretty full proof.  While it might be that students might loan their passes out to others, that doesn’t hurt the company.  It’s not being duplicated, which would cut into the local company’s profits.
